Who We Serve

As humans we can sometime feel discouraged, unfocused, depressed, or hopeless.  Since the Covid pandemic individuals have reported more anxiety and depression than ever before. Interacting with horses provides an opportunity to increase one’s sense of wellbeing.

About Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP)

Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy is a mental health treatment modality where individuals interact with a horse, or horses which increases self-awareness and insight into behavioral and relational patterns that may impede social and emotional development.  Learn more about EAP HERE.

What an EAP Session Looks Like

What does it look like: Sessions are held at a horse ranch outdoors with a treatment team that includes a licensed mental health professional certified in providing EAP, a horse professional, and a horse(s).

Dana L. Kasper, Ph.D., LPCC

 

Dr. Kasper began Reins of Freedom in 2016 because she provides expert trauma-informed, equity-centered care for children, teens, and their caregivers with the help of horses. Her desire is to see people have a greater sense of self-worth, and to know their value in this world and sense of purpose. She specializes in the assessment and treatment of childhood sexual abuse and those suffering with emotional disorders due to trauma. She is an advocate and speaker for victims of abuse, and her message is one of encouragement, and to continue building awareness on the pervasiveness of abuse and need the need for early childhood education and treatment for those who have been abused.
